Wash West Incidents
The below incidents in the Wash. Sq. West area were recently reported to the 6th District:

(ARREST) On Tuesday, 10/20/09, 12 AM, a witness observed a female patient taking items from a backpack that was behind the nurses station inside the E.R at Pa. Hospital, 800 Spruce St. The witness notified security who held e offender for police and the complainant's wallet was recovered and returned. The 22 year old offender with a Port Richmond address was charged with Theft.

(REPORT) On Tuesday, 100/20/09, 11:30 AM, elderly complainant reported that a female came to her apartment door, 8th & Locust Sts. and asked to use the phone. Later, at about 1 PM, complainant found that $20 and a bank card were missing from her handbag. The offender was described as a black female, medium complexion, 5'6", thin build.

(REPORT) On Tuesday, 10/20/09, 1:42 PM, complainant discovered a female unknown to her hiding in the closet of her apartment at 9th & Locust Sts. The offender fled the property without saying or taking anything. The offender was described as a black female, 30 years, 5'6", 120 lbs., wearing a black skull cap, black jacket and black pants. 6th District Officer Grant attempted to lift latent finger prints at the scene.

(REPORT) Between 4 PM, Tuesday, 10/20/09 and 8:50 AM, Wednesday, 10/21/09, complainant's apartment in the 200 block S. 13th St. had the door forced open and cash taken from inside. 6th District Officer McCausland attempted to lift latent finger prints at the scene.

(ARREST) F.Y.I. On Wednesday, 10/21/09, 1:35 AM, complainants were entering a residence in the 1100 block Rodman St, (3rd District) when a male grabbed the handbag from one of them and started to flee. The other complainant chased and caught the male, but was forced to release him when he pulled out a knife. 6th District Officer Erwin responded to the area and apprehended the offender in the 1300 block Lombard St. and complainant's property was recovered. The 49 year old offender with a North Phila. address was charged with Robbery, Assault and related offenses.

(REPORT) On Thursday, 10/22/09, 3:20 AM, complainant reported that he came out of a club and he was pushed down and had his money taken in the 1200 block Chancellor St. The offenders were described only as 4 black males.

(ARREST) On Friday, 10/23/09, 6th District Sergeant LaRose set up a Narcotics Enforcement Team surveillance in the area and at 9:45 PM, Officers observed two males in a drug transaction in the 100 block S. 11th St. Upon approach the males fled in opposite directions. The seller was apprehended as the buyer was bale to elude apprehension. Recovered were numerous packets of crack cocaine and cash. The 51 year old offender with a West Oak Lane address was charged with Illegal Narcotic Sales.

(ARREST) On Friday, 10/23/09, 10:15 PM, a male was arrested for Prostitution at 13th & Spruce Sts. by the City Wide Vice Unit.

(ARREST) On Friday, 10/23/09, 10:35 PM, a male was arrested for Prostitution at 13th & Locust Sts. by the City Wide Vice Unit.

(ARREST) On Saturday, 10/24/09, 12:45 PM, a male was arrested for Prostitution at 1200 Spruce St. by the City Wide Vice Unit.

(ARREST) On Saturday, 10/24/09, 12:55 PM, a male was arrested for Prostitution at 1200 Locust St. by the City Wide Vice Unit.

(REPORT) Between 1 PM, Saturday, 10/24/09 and 4:30 AM, Sunday, 10/25/09, complainant's secured bicycle was taken from the 1200 block St James St. without permission.

(REPORT) Between 6 PM, Sunday, 10/18/09 and 12 PM, Sunday, 10/25/09, complainant's 2000 Nissan, parked in the 1300 block Pine St. was taken without permission.

FYI, On Sunday, 11/01/09, 12:21 AM, a Phila. Fire Dept. medic unit responded to a call for a hospital case at 7th & Spruce Sts. The medic unit found an unresponsive male on the S.E. corner with an apparent gunshot wound to the chest. The 17 year old male with a South Phila. address was transported to Jefferson Hospital, but did not survive his injury. 6th District police were called to the hospital and then went to the area of 7th & Spruce Sts. to check for a crime scene. It was evident that the incident did not occur at this location.

On Monday, 11/02/09, at 3:43 PM, the 6th District was notified by the Homicide Unit that the place of occurrence for this homicide by shooting was 15th & Ellsworth Sts. South Phila. in the 17th District and that the victim was apparently in route to the hospital, but only made it as far as 7th & Spruce Sts.

(REPORT) On Thursday, 10/29/09, 5:15 AM, Delaware River Port Authority police discovered a 2009 Nissan, parked in the 200 block S. 11th St. with a smashed window. The owner later returned and reported that an I-Phone and watch was taken.

(REPORT) On Friday, 10/30/09, 12:22 AM a security guard inside an office building in the 1200 block Locust St. left his desk for a few minutes, returned and found an I-Pod and phone had been taken. A male was observed on security cameras taking the items. The offender was described as a black male, 20's, 5'10", thin build wearing a dark jacket.

(REPORT) On Saturday, 10/31/09, 10:50 PM, complainant exchanged words with a male in the 1300 block Locust St. and the complainant was punched in the head, suffering a laceration that required medical attention. The offender was described as a white male, late 20's - 30's, 5'10", medium build wearing a dark costume.
