Crime Alert
On Saturday, 11/21/09, 2:26 AM, 6th District police responded to a 911 call of a robbery at 2nd & Spruce Sts. At that time the officers came into contact with a male and female complainant and were told that as they walked in the 200 block Spruce St., two males came up behind them and grabbed a handbag from the female and ran east on Spruce St. The male companion of the complainant chased after the two offenders and one of the males pulled out and fired a handgun. The offenders got into a vehicle and fled, direction unknown. During the course of interviewing the complainants, the male victim realized that he had a graze wound to his side and was taken to Pa. Hospital where he was treated and released.

The offenders were described as black males, #1- 22-25 years old, 5'6" -5'7", medium build, wearing dark colored clothing, #2-25-26 years old, 5'11" -6", scruffy beard, wearing a dark colored puffy jacket.

The males fled in a dark colored older model Ford Crown Victoria, with a New Jersey license plate containing the letters "FB".

It is requested that this alert be sent out to all area residents so that proper precautions are taken.

It is also requested that if anyone has seen this vehicle before to please contact the 6th District Crime Prevention Officer Whitford at 215-686-3063. If a vehicle or males fitting this description is seen. please contact 911 right away, give an exact location, description and mention this incident to the 911 call taker. DO NOT TAKE ANY OTHER ACTION THAN TO CALL 911 AND BE OBSERVANT. THESE MALES OR THE OCCUPANTS OF THE DESCRIBED VEHICLE SHOULD BE CONSIDERED ARMED AND DANGEROUS.



Wash West Incidents
The below incidents in the Wash. Sq. West area were recently reported to the 6th District:

(REPORT) On Tuesday, 11/10/09, 12 AM, complainant was walking south in the 300 block S. Broad St when a male ran up from behind, grabbed complainant's jacket from his hand and fled west on Spruce St. The offender was described as a black male, 30's, wearing a grey sweatshirt, blue jeans, brown boots.

(REPORT) On Tuesday, 11/10/09, between 7 AM and 9 AM, out-of-town complainant's Dodge Pick-Up, parked in the 1100 block Locust St. had a window smashed and an I-Phone taken. 6th District Officer Minnis attempted to lift latent finger prints.

(REPORT) On Tuesday, 11/10/09, 12 PM out-of-town complainant was working at the rear of his work van in the 800 block Spruce St. when person(s) unknown took a laptop fro the open side door of the van.

(REPORT) On Wednesday, 11/11/09, between 12 PM and 5 PM, complainant's bicycle was taken from the 1000 block Walnut St. without permission.

(REPORT) On Thursday, 11/12/09, between 9:20 AM and 3:30 PM, complainant's apartment in the 200 block S. 13th St. was entered without force and a laptop was taken. 6th District officer McQue lifted latent finger prints at the scene.

(ARREST) On Thursday, 11/12/09, 6th District Sergeant LaRose set up a surveillance for illegal narcotic activity in the Wash. Sq. West area when at 7:40 PM, officers observed a male on a bicycle, outside the Parker/Spruce Hotel, 261 S. 13th St,. go over to a male standing on the corner and sell him narcotics. The seller was arrested with 10 packets of crack cocaine, a bag of Marijuana and $250 cash in his possession , the buyer fled the scene. The 28 year old seller with a N.E. Phila. address was charged with Illegal Narcotic Sales.

(REPORT) Between 5 PM, Friday, 11/13/09 and 9:30 PM, Saturday, 11/14/09, complainant's 2000 Acura, parked in the 900 block Pine St. was taken without permission.

(REPORT) Between 9:30 AM, Saturday, 11/14/09 and 2:30 PM, Sunday, 11/15/09, complainant's 1999 Acura, parked in the 1000 block Locust St. was taken without permission.

(ARREST) On Saturday, 11/14/09, 6th District Bicycle Patrol Officers Fererro and Cullen while making a security check of the apartment complex in the 200 block S. 13th St. observed a male they knew not to be a resident wondering the halls. The male was stopped for investigation and found to be in possession 4 packets of crack cocaine and a glass pipe. The 40 year old offender with a North Phila. address was charged with Possession of Crack Cocaine.
